Why is Respirator Fit Testing Important? They passed the test but are complaining of the fit. Now what? Standard 1910.134, paragraph (f), section (6) states that, if after passing a QLFT or QNFT, the employee subsequently notifies the employer, program administrator, supervisor, or physician or other licensed heath care professional (PLHCP) that the fit of the respirator is unacceptable, the employee shall be given a reasonable opportunity to select a different respirator facepiece and to be retested. Want help? Contrary to what paragraphs of rules will have you thinking, fit testing is not difficult, but you do need to know what you are doing.
