Welding Issues Eliminated With LOCTITE® Structural Adhesive SITUATION A work truck and trailer business wanted to improve their assembly process by eliminating manual welding. They needed a fast solution that is high strength, impact resistant and environmental durable. LOCTITE SOLUTION The LOCTITE Technical Sale Engineer recommended LOCTITE ® AA H8006™ as a weld replacement structural adhesive. The recommendation was tested and the results used to develop a ‘best practice’ assembly guidelines. The guidelines and some training were all that was needed for general laborers to make high performance assemblies. Further collaboration with the manufacturer identified an additional process improvement opportunity to use TEROSON ® MS 939NA™ to secure and seal fiberglass to ABS. BENEFITS Using LOCTITE ® AA H8006™ and TEROSON ® MS 939NA™ in this situation provided the customer a fast and reliable solution. LOCTITE ® AA H8006™ delivered weld-like structural performance and durability and eliminated weld related issues of safety, training and finding/keeping qualified personnel. These adhesives reduced costs and improved the assembly process.
