Fastenal Vending Machine Cleaning & Disinfecting Best Practices As a general guideline, use the same precautions on a vending machine that you would around door handles, faucets, handrails, attendance systems, and other more frequented areas. Please follow these cleaning procedures as directed. Coil Machines/Stand Alone Controllers: • The keypad and retrieval area can be wiped down with a mild soapy solution applied with a damp cloth for general cleaning. • If spray cleaner is used, it must be applied to a soft microfiber cloth. Do not spray any cleanser directly on any surface and particularly any electronic components. • Do not use strong solvents (ammonia for example) to avoid damaging printed surfaces). Lockers: • Gently wash the windows and handles with a solution of mild soap and lukewarm water, using a soft, grid-free cloth or sponge to loosen any dirt or grime. • To prevent water spotting, repeat rinse with clean water and dry the surface with a soft cloth. • Do not use bleach or alkaline based cleansers. Never use aromatic or halogenated solvents. • Use of incompatible cleaning materials with the plastic material can cause structural and/or surface damage. • Never use squeegees, razor blades, brushes, steel wool or other abrasive materials on the locker windows. SL Touchscreens: • Clean the casing around the touchscreen before you clean the touchscreen/display itself. Gently wipe a clean, dry microfiber cloth across the surface of the touchscreen/display in straight lines to remove any dust. • If spray cleaner is used, it must be applied to a soft microfiber cloth. Do not spray any cleanser directly on any surface and particularly any electronic components. Disinfecting Touch Surfaces: • Surfaces should be cleaned of dirt and grime prior to disinfecting. • 70% isopropyl alcohol can be used for non-plastic surfaces. Do not use on locker windows or plastic components. • Do NOT use bleach or alkaline-based cleansers. General Notes: • No liquids should be sprayed directly on any part of the device. This includes the keypad as well as any touchscreens or displays. • All cleaners should be applied directly to the cloth towel; no paper products should be used as they will damage the devices. Microfiber towels are recommended. Consider keeping hand sanitizer near the device and use after each transaction. • All cleaners in use should be used in accordance with their labels.
